Meet Lex Fordyce: Resident Manager of @Sandton Hotel

Ensuring that @Sandton Hotel’s hospitality offering is of the highest standard, Lex Fordyce has been appointed as the property’s Resident Manager. We chatted with the dynamic hospitality fundi about his start in the industry, his favourite space within the hotel and his ultimate guest recommendations.

How did you get started in the hospitality industry?

I had always worked in restaurants as a barman, supervisor and waitron, but once I completed my degree in Marketing I took a gap year and moved to the UK. There I worked at Champneys Health Resort, grew within the company and fell in love with the industry – and I’ve loved it every day since.

What do you love about what you do?

I really enjoy interacting with guests as well as staff. Understanding their needs and assisting wherever I can are tasks that bring me absolute joy. Nothing compares to it! 

What do you love about working at @Sandton Hotel and why were you excited to join the team?

@Sandton’s concept excites me and the convenience of having an all-in-one hotel within the city is a brilliant idea. The property is well developed and offers so many options to meet each client’s needs and make their experience one to remember. From our water treatment projects, waste containment, IT and technology components… all of it allows us to be ahead of our competitors and ensure our guests have an unforgettable and unique experience every time!

What is your favourite space within the hotel?

The pool bar – it is the perfect spot to grab a cocktail or two, watch the sunset over beautiful Sandton and take it all in. 

What would you recommend to our guests to not miss out on during their stay? 

The cinema is a prized gem for guests, whether they want to watch sports with friends or spend time with the kids. We offer it all and will keep you entertained with the latest releases – it’s a space that really gives you the comfort to switch off and truly relax.
