Heading up the events team, Banqueting Manager Ryan loves working together with clients to create spectacular events within the myriad venues that @Sandton Hotel offers. From weddings to conferences, to intimate dinners and cocktail parties, Ryan ensures that each event is spectacular. We chatted with him about joining the @Sandton Hotel team, trends within eventing and his favourite space to throw a beautiful soirée.
Tell us about why you were excited to join the @Sandton Hotel team?
I was thrilled to join @Sandton Hotel because it is a brand-new property with no limits – creating a brand from inception is something I have always wanted to be part of.
What offerings does @Sandton Hotel bring to the banqueting and events mix of Joburg and Sandton?
Our service offering – I firmly believe that service levels should be extremely high in this space, and we pride ourselves on our high level of service. Also, our breathtakingly beautiful and versatile venues mean that we can transform any of our venues into a client’s desired setup. Last, but not least, let’s not forget the gorgeous views across the city.
Why should couples, corporates and groups be looking at @Sandton Hotel as a venue for their next event?
We boast high standards of comfort and elegance, offer versatility of the various spaces throughout the hotel and our pricing is undeniably competitive.
Where would you host your next event?
There are so many spaces in the hotel and it’s very hard to pinpoint just one! However, I absolutely love the West Penthouse – it is exclusive, first-string, and undeniably gorgeous.
What do you love about what you do?
Interacting with various guests daily has always been a great aspect of my job, but the most exciting aspect is that every day is different.
Any advice for people planning an event for Spring and Summer this year?
Is it cheeky to say that you should be heading over to @Sandton Hotel? Of course not!
I believe an event needs to be memorable, so focus on aspects which your guests would never have thought of and take them on a journey.
Trends you want to share?
It is great to see that many organisations / private individuals are becoming so health conscious – they’ve been creating health bars and ensuring guests are fed throughout the day. In person events have to be highlighted here, and we’re seeing in-person events rising steadily post-pandemic.
